a role in it. At the end of one such parables he said if your right hand
offends you, you should cut it off. Whether the translation is literal or
figurative he is stating that you should just cut ties with the thing that
makes you sin. For those of you bible scholars who would debate me to
say that he was talking about sexual transgressions go back and read it
again. He said this as an after thought. He said it more than once. That
means pay attention.
While business organizations do not condone these practices
outwardly
, owners, supervisors, managers, employees, etc. belong to
organizations like these outside of the organization and allow the racist
and elitist practices of discrimination to dictate how they conduct
business inside the organization and outside of it as well. People who
would ordinarily have opportunity to find gainful employment do
not. Again, people who would ordinarily have opportunity to find gainful
employment do not. (666)
Poverty makes it hard for people to do the "right" things. When basic
human needs are not met, people become desperate. When Moses went
to Pharaoh to tell him that God required his people to go into the desert to
make sacrifice to Him, it was not a random thing that God was speaking
of. Those people had been in captivity for a long time and were corrupt in
their bodies and spirits, unclean, and jaded. They were to make sacrifice
and repent of assimilating because they were so far removed from their
heritage and promise. This is not far from what we experience in present
society as well. We kill each other. We turn our backs on people who
need us, including communities and our families. We always make fun of
others who are not like us, "us" being members of "our groups". Not only
does this practice keep capable people from engaging in productive
activity—it disallows them the opportunity to develop self-worth, which in
turn would give them courage and wisdom to promote themselves and
their businesses. This is where the practice gets in depth. This is where it
also becomes ludicrous.
